My Story

I'm running the 2024 Brighton Marathon on April 7th, and I'm excited to be running this 26.2-mile route from the city to coast past the iconic sites while also raising money and awareness for Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) - a national charity for women and families affected by postpartum psychosis (PP).

I attended a fundraising event for APP in 2023, and after learning about PP, a severe but treated form of mental health, I wanted to both help raise essential funds for APP and raise awareness.

PP begins suddenly in the days and weeks after having a baby - it can be frightening and shocking for the mum experiencing it, her partner and her family.

Symptoms include hallucinations and delusions, often with mania, depression or confusion. Over 1400 women experience PP annually in the UK (1 to 2 in every 1,000 mothers). An episode of PP can be very frightening for women and their families. Most women go on to fully recover; however, the journey can be long and difficult.

It would be fabulous if you could help me raise as much money as possible for APP - so any donation would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you,

Chris
