My Story

I'm running for Tommy's in memory of our baby Kopanya who Kela and I lost at 12 weeks. Losing a baby is a painful experience. With the speed of life, the loss of little ones is often brushed under the carpet with little support to either bereaved parent who must still care for their family and continue their day to day lives. We were lucky to have family and friends around us although for many Tommy's fill the gap and provide essential support.

The loss does not go away just because a successful pregnancy follows. You often wonder what could of been, how they would have looked and what they would have achieved.

Tommys is a pregnancy charity working to make the UK the safest place in the world to give birth, supported by people who refuse to accept that a baby's death is just 'one of those things'. The people who support Tommy's want to do something about the lack of research and information around pregnancy issues. Like Kela and I, Tommy's believe every parent has the right to a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Tommy's fund pioneering research to identify why pregnancy goes wrong, which helps us to understand how we can prevent complications and loss, as well as enabling specialist care for people at our clinics and across the NHS.

Tommy's provide expert, midwife-led advice for parents before, during and after pregnancy, working together towards safer, healthier pregnancies.

The 2024 Brighton Marathon , on April 7th, is a 26.2 mile route from city to coast past the iconic sites of Brighton and Hove. Enjoy an atmosphere like no other in this bustling, vibrant and colourful city, which welcomes thousands of spectators and the local community each year.
